"Research as studio practice."

Continuing to gather clippings.

Thinking about the upcoming book. What is the book trying to say? Why is it funny? How can the book structure generate context?

  1. is it funny?
does it want to be funny?
can it allow that former time to be as complicated a mix of comedy and tragedy, and confusion, as ours is to us?

"research as studio practice" — excellent.

  2. a book can be like a time capsule, bringing that past to the present, and thereby commenting on our own certainties about what is normal.
one volume might be composed of articles/snippets from past and present, as if the dateline classifications were lost.
some kind of time-warp mashup, as it were.
