I Love You Not

I have come up with an arrangement for the coffins even though I don't have them all and none are decorated. I am thinking about daisies and the whole "he loves me... he loves me not" thing. Obviously I'd have to secure the bottoms to a table or whatever they will be on so the placement doesn't get screwed with. 

Now I'm trying to figure out how I'm actually going to decorate them. I want to mould (...mold?) clay around each coffin and set gemstones into them but I'm not really sure how that would work. Some clays you need to bake to set and I can't put a cardboard box in an oven. Does anyone know anything about clay? Will it stick to the cardboard? Do I have to bake it?

A couple days ago I had to accompany my roommate on a drive to the airport and on our way back we passed a sign for a shrine I had been meaning to go see. It was seriously fate that we came across it.

And I must add - that morning I decided to go along on the ride impulsively and I was wearing pajamas.. A onesie.. With feet to be exact. I can't believe I went to a national religious site in footsie pajamas! I felt so disrespectful but then I thought the people around may just assume I was very ill with something horrible and that I came directly from my hospital bed

As I was surfing on wikipedia about shrines I came across something that said roadside memorials are illegal in Massachusetts. I thought this was rude and untrue because I've seen them around my whole life. Also, imagine getting a ticket or whatever for setting up a memorial? I wouldn't pay it.

So this brought me to googling the laws for roadside memorials and I came across this PDF listing the different states regulations. It is from 2007 but what could possibly change since then? I don't know.. maybe it has changed but heres what I found:

"Massachusetts is not to promote or discourage Roadside Memorials in any way."











I was also thinking it would be cool to start a website of all the roadside memorials that are around and the directions to them for people that love drama and want to cry on the side of the street for someone they've never met. Then I found this website here that is almost what I wanted. It has all sorts of information about roadside memorials and photographs. I figured if I were to start my own website I would have to travel a lot and search obituaries/newspapers for deaths and I do neither.

I started arranging my shrine images and collecting them into one album.

This is from when I visited the Boston Marathon bombing site. This was by far the biggest shrine I have seen and it was sort of divided into different sections for the victims and the bombers. There was a section of baseball caps all laid out and a section of sneakers lined up.









And on a lighter note
as lame as this sounds - I now have a pinterest board of shrines or pieces that I enjoy
