Bare Minimum
I will focus on performance/total design art w/ graphic design and sewing.
Materials I’m using: foshape, worbla, wonderflex, & crafts foam.
The last three years at Montserrat College of Art has truly been a journey. It started with me believing I knew everything there was about graphic design. I acted like there was nothing I needed to learn. However my second year here I was knocked off of the pedestal I had created for myself. It was extremely hard for me. I questioned if I should even be studying graphic design. When classes started back up I was determined to go to every class with an open mind, and learn anything and everything that teacher was offering me. Not only do I want to push myself in graphic design, I wanted to push myself in sewing. I want to combine my knowledge of graphic design and sewing to change the ordinary. I’m still uncertain as to what these costumes will look like but I do know I want to explore the notion of performance art and the idea of total design (but only hanging minimum objects).
The way I want to push myself with my sewing abilities is to work with materials I have never worked with much such as foshape, worbla, wonderflex, and crafts foam.
Some influential artists for me are Nick Cave, Julie Taymor, Alexander McQueen, Yayahan, and a few other well-known cosplayers.
